Are the Thread classes still required?

Doing some security research @mor and I stumbled upon some Threading-classes which were introduced in this commit: 601723f7

But it seems like the classes, which were used for the setup two years ago, aren't used there anymore: https://dev.quiqqer.com/quiqqer/quiqqer/blob/master/lib/QUI/Setup.php

Are those classes still required to be in the core?
